Dear Army,

I think we can all agree when I say that this past year has been trying times to say the least. How insane is it that in the blink of an eye, we are already in October?

Whether you are back to school, continuing your regular daily grind or diving into a brand-new job, it’s easy to get wrapped up in work or the craziness all around you – so much to the point where you are putting your own mental health in the back seat.

I cannot stress just how important it is to set time aside for the most important person in your life... you! It’s as simple as taking a few minutes in the day to take some deep breaths, pour yourself a hot cup of tea and put on some tunes (perhaps this is too 'on the nose' but can we suggest "Answer: Love Myself "?), a little for yourself goes a long way!

As someone who normally gets anxious when I know that there are several tasks that I need attending to, I personally find it very cathartic to compile a to-do list at the start of the day. It comes to no surprise that one might stress out when the work feels never-ending or worse, when you're trying to keep track of everything at the top of your head. I find that when everything is organized and written down in a check list, the metaphorical mountain doesn't feel as hard to climb. I should also mention that more often than not, I’m doing my work with a sheet mask on – while this could cause a fright to anyone who wants to do an impromptu Zoom call with me, I say “Hey! I’m self-caring!” (However, I urge you to just play it off as if you are just getting in the spirit of Halloween)

As the subject of self-love and mental health comes up, it’s important to acknowledge the fact that BTS has always been an advocate for mental health awareness. They heal us time and time again with their uplifting music and powerful lyrics when we feel at our lowest.

Their message to love yourself resonates in their music, don't let that message be drowned out from the chaos that is your day-to-day life.
